Beneficiary’s Past (please include details that depict beneficiary’s background, including where he/she lives, socio-economic conditions, family and work details):Saraswati is 21 years old trainee. She has completed 9th She couldn’t complete her formal education due to poor financial condition. Saraswati is staying with her parents. She has two brothers and one younger sister. She wants to become independent financially. She was searching the job everywhere. She always wanted to support her family financially.
Why there was a need for intervention: Her mother is a working woman. She works as a home based care. She is the only earning member of her family who earns money. Her father was working in a private company on a contract basis. Her brothers were searching jobs, but they also didn’t find anywhere. Her mother was always upset due to financial problems. She wanted to support her family financially, but she is not getting the opportunity. Therefore, our intervention was necessary.
Challenges/problems faced by the beneficiary before intervention:She is depressed due to financial problems, she faces many up and downs. She wants to do something in her life. Her mother’s monthly income was Rs.10000, and it was very difficult to survive on this small amount a whole month.
How TMF supported the beneficiary:She was poor in studies. She has always queries related to the course. We used to clear her all the doubts. We have given special attention in developing soft skills & improving English language. Trainers have prepared her for interviews and had given her hand holding while dealing with her workplace problems while dealing with patients.
Change in the life of the beneficiary (please mention the positive changes in his/her life that has happened because of TMF’s intervention): Saraswati has become financially independent. She has developed professional qualities and has become more responsible. Her neighbors giving more respect to her cause now she became an Assistant Nurse. She helps people in her area. Her standard of living has been changed. Her verbal and non-verbal communication has improved. She is not doing only basic nursing work there. She has been shifted for an ICU section of the hospital.
Quotes (quotes from beneficiary where he/she talks about the positive change in his/her life): Saraswati is feeling better, she is grateful to Shield Foundation and Tech Mahindra Foundation for giving her an opportunity to learn Assistant Nursing Course and job placement. She even feels that she is not working as an Assistant Nurse but as a staff Nurse. She has been placed in the Shruti Nursing Home and getting Rs.8,000 salary per month. But after one year she left that job cause of some personal reason. And now she has started working in Kurla Nursing Home and getting Rs. 8,000/- monthly.

She was very much aware about her strengths and weaknesses. But from this training center she is very much confident.

Her parent’s are saying that every girl should do this Nursing Assistants Course. They are getting respect from others like their daughter became a Nurse.
Now (after TMF’s intervention), how does the beneficiary envisage his/her future:She is applying for further studies. She wants to complete her education from her earned money. She also aims to become a senior nurse in that hospital. She likes her profession very much. Saraswati thinks that the nursing profession is like doing social work. She loves to take care of her patients. She is getting love and blessings from her patients, neighbors, relatives and family members. She is suggesting her all friends to join this SMART Center.
