Guest lecture by Dr. Nilesh Shah on Stress Management

A guest lecture was organized by the team of Shield Foundation on 6th March,2021 on the topic Stress Management for the students of  ITES BPO. In today’s fast paced world and hectic schedules people have become prone to developing stress and are unaware about how to manage it. Dr. Nilesh Shah H.O.D.(Department of Psychiatry),L.T.M.G Hospital was invited for the delivering a lecture on this very important topic. Social distancing was maintained and all the students were sanitized and necessary precautions were taken before the lecture. Dr. Shah was also very cautious and gave the whole presentation while wearing a mask.

The session began with a brief introduction of the speaker by the Trainer. Following that, Dr. Shah took over the centre stage and began his presentation by using Power Point Presentation. He explained how to manage stress to the students in a very jovial and interesting manner.

He mentioned that there are three ways to manage stress which were as follows:

  1. Fight the situation if it is realistic and possible to do so.
  2. Flight from the situation if the situation seems unmanageable
  3. Freeze the situation that is, handle it later. Leave it for now.

These three concepts were discussed in detail by Dr. Nilesh Shah.

He also emphasized some important tools to manage stress. He told that exercising, taking up dance as a hobby, jogging, taking psychiatric help, sharing your problems with your family, being prepared beforehand to manage a stressful situation or simply saying No at some places, practicing Yoga and meditation, and weighing pros and cons of a situation are some ways in which one can handle stress. This session was required for all the students as it made them aware of how to handle stressful situations. Overall this session will be quite fruitful and useful for the students in their personal and professional lives.

The session concluded by Vote of Thanks given by the students.
